Danny Gonzalez quits skateboarding.

Danny Gonzalez has quit professional skateboarding due to medical reasons.

We have bad news for the skateboarding community, Danny quits because of recurrent problems with his right leg.
That’s what he told us via email:

“It doesn’t look good. I recently found out my ankle is off set to the right. Which means my knee can’t take impact because I don’t have a good base.

I would like to thank you and Jart for all your support, but this is it for me. I can no longer skateboard as a Professional.

Thanks again, Danny.”

We understand this must have been a really difficult decision for him to take and wish him the best for this new times to come, with the board under his feet like a true skater he is.

For us he will always be a part of the skateboarding history, one of the greats skaters that changed street skating

Interview with Charles Collet about turning pro

In his Etnies Interview, Charles Collet talks about turning pro, tweaking his nose, and getting stabbed in the ass.

Paying your dues is a complicated concept in the skateboarding world. Similar to the real world, there are different currencies available. You can pay in blood, the time you invest into your skating or with dedication to the people and brands that support you. Some people are even born with some extra credit, which can be in the form of style, ability or talent.

Charles Collet has definitely paid his dues in skateboarding. He used most of the currencies listed above and definitely has some credit left to spare. As a result, Charles was recently offered a well-deserved pro model by Cliché Skateboards and you can buy it now.

Tony Hawk skates the White House

In this image released by Tony Hawk, he skated the hall at the White House as part of a Father’s Day celebration, Friday, June 19, 2009 in Washington. Wonder if he waxed the rails?

With the permission of the White House officials, Tony Hawk skated the grand foyer and the nearby Old Executive Office Building. Hawk also sent out a few other tweets from today like “The Prez addressing all of us fathers before we split up to visit DC charities,” and “D Wade & Etan T make me feel short.”

Rob Drydek’s Stomach Pumping

Rob Drydek of MTV’s Rob & Big got completely shitfaced with John Mayer Saturday night and ended up getting his stomach pumped. Of course, like any good friend/Twitter addict, John tweeted about it:

“In triage at Cedars with Rob Dyrdek. When the contents of his stomach hit that silicon bag and we all saw it, we just broke into applause.

I’m pretty sure if John Mayer’s Blackberry would’ve fell into the toilet, he’d have shrieked like a schoolgirl, polished it off with his shirt and then tweeted how he just shrieked like a schoolgirl. True story.
